Bradenton, FL (December 11, 2019) – Police responded to the scene of a five-vehicle collision on US-301 in the area of 63rd Avenue in Bradenton yesterday around 10 a.m.
Police claim that the accident was so severe that it closed down the roadway for several hours yesterday and took one life.
Police have confirmed that, at the time of the collision, a 38-year-old man from Sarasota was driving his 2001 Ford van approaching 63rd and did not see that traffic slowed down in front of him.
The man struck the back of a 1997 Chevy 1500 driven by a 40-year-old woman. The woman’s vehicle then slammed into a Toyota and a Ford, pushing them into a Dodge in a chain-reaction collision.
The woman in the Chevy was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident. Her passenger, identified as a 44-year-old woman, suffered from serious injuries and was hospitalized.
The driver of the Toyota, identified as a 35-year-old woman, was also seriously injured and hospitalized. The other drivers suffered from minor injuries.
The initial driver was issued a citation for careless driving.
Police closed down that section of the road for several hours while they investigated. At this time, their investigation continues.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
