Clearwater, FL (October 16, 2020) – According to Florida Highway Patrol officials, a fatal pedestrian crash took place in Clearwater.
The accident took place after midnight on Friday morning on October 16 at the intersection of Ulmerton Road and 34th Street. A pedestrian in a motorized wheelchair was crossing the roadway when he was suddenly struck by a Honda Civic. The vehicle did not remain at the scene of the accident, though other vehicles behind the driver did.
The pedestrian was identified as a 58-year-old man from Holiday. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. He was in a crosswalk when he was struck.
Troopers are still looking for the driver of the Honda but do not have any leads at this time.
The investigation into the collision continues.
