Davenport, FL (December 13, 2019) – Police responded to a fatal accident that took place at the intersection of US-27 and South Boulevard in front of Webb’s Candy Shop.
The Florida Highway Patrol was called to the scene of the collision, where they found that four vehicles collided with one another.
According to a preliminary investigation, a 45-year-old driver from Lakeland was headed east in his truck approaching US-27. He failed to stop at the local stop sign at the intersection and drove into the path of another truck being driven by a 27-year-old man. This caused the second truck to strike the rear of a Lexus being driven by a 29-year-old woman.
The second truck then ran into the path of a 2004 Cadillac before coming to a stop.
The driver of the Cadillac, identified as a 64-year-old man, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. His passenger, an 81-year-old woman, was also hospitalized but succumbed to her injuries while at the hospital.
Every other driver sustained minor injuries in the accident.
We would like to offer our condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
