Gandy, FL (February 24, 2020) – Around 5 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, February 22, a serious motorcycle accident took place on the Howard Frankland Bridge in Gandy.
The victim was identified as a 62-year-old man who was thrown from his motorcycle after three vehicles collided with one another in the northbound lanes of the bridge.
The Florida Highway Patrol claimed that the motorcyclist attempted to pass slower traffic, which is when his motorcycle collided with a Chevrolet SUV driven by a 34-year-old. The motorcycle collided with a concrete barrier and then ran into the back of an SUV driven by a 47-year-old woman from Tampa.
The drivers of the SUVs were not injured in the accident but the 62-year-old motorcyclist was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
At this time, the investigation into the accident continues.
Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of a full recovery.
