Lakeland, FL – Passenger Killed in Fatal Accident on Ewell Rd

Lakeland, FL (May 1, 2020) – Authorities with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of a fatal accident in Lakeland.

Police confirmed that the driver of a blue Honda Civic was headed west on Ewell Road with three passengers. One of the passengers was identified as a 22-year-old man from Bartow.

The 22-year-old driver was driving along when he noticed a piece of metal lying in the roadway and swerved to the left. His vehicle slid into a grassy area and went through a wire fence. The Civic tumbled and turned over.

None of the people inside the vehicle were wearing seatbelts. Deputies confirmed that they were ejected from the vehicle, including the 22-year-old male passenger. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The investigation into the circumstances of the collision is currently ongoing.
