New Port Richey, FL (December 5, 2019) – This morning around 1 a.m., lanes at the intersection of US-19 and Imperial Drive were closed following a fatal pedestrian crash.
The roadway was completely open in the area around 6 a.m. and traffic resumed as normal.
New Port Richey Police claim that a 39-year-old man was struck and killed as he was crossing the street in the intersection. The driver of the vehicle that struck him remained at the scene and was not injured.
While police investigated the scene, a car crashed into one of the cruisers at the scene of the accident. The speeding vehicle went airborne and was badly damaged due to the collision. The 24-year-old woman driving the vehicle was not injured.
No other injuries have been reported and the investigation continues.
