Palmetto, FL (November 14, 2019) – Manatee County officials have identified one person who was seriously injured in a pedestrian accident at a Palmetto intersection on Monday.
The accident, according to authorities, took place around 9 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 41 and 23rd Street. Police claim that the pedestrian, identified as a 20-year-old male, was crossing the roadway headed east in the crosswalk.
The pedestrian had a green light when a gray vehicle, which might have been an SUV, ran through the red light at the intersection and struck him. The driver then fled the scene.
The pedestrian was hospitalized with serious injuries at the Manatee Memorial Hospital.
At this time, police continue to search for the driver responsible and investigate the accident.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
