Sarasota, FL (July 6, 2020) – Around 8:30 p.m. last night, July 5, a fatal motorcycle crash at an intersection in Sarasota.
Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that the accident took place at the intersection of University Parkway and Kentucky Street. A vehicle was turning left from Kentucky onto University while a motorcyclist was traveling in the other direction.
The car went through the intersection, causing it to travel into the path of the oncoming motorcycle. The motorcycle collided with the left side of the passenger vehicle.
The motorcyclist, who has not yet been formally identified, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The man in the passenger vehicle has been listed in serious condition.
All westbound lanes of University at Shade Avenue were closed down for several hours as a result of the accident.
The investigation into the collision continues.
