Tampa, FL (January 22, 2020) – According to Tampa authorities, two people were injured in a serious car accident on FL-93A in Tampa involving a vehicle that rolled over.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the collision took place around 8:40 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the highway. A 2010 Jetta was being operated by a 31-year-old woman when she suddenly overtook stopped traffic. She drove into the median so that she would not hit another vehicle and then ran back into the roadway, where her Jetta struck a 2004 Mercedes.
The driver of the Mercedes was identified as a 44-year-old woman who was taken to Tampa General Hospital with serious injuries following the collision. Her vehicle allegedly rolled over.
The driver of the Jetta was also hospitalized but cited for careless driving.
At this time, the investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
