Tampa, FL (November 19, 2019) – On the afternoon of November 18, four students were injured in a pedestrian accident when they were struck by a vehicle near a bus stop.
The four students were from Seminole Heights Charter High School and were taken to various local hospitals for treatment of their injuries. The teens were all aged between 18 and 19 and suffered lacerations, road rash, and more.
The accident allegedly took place around 12:05 p.m. at the intersection of North Florida Avenue and West Ida Street in Tampa. The driver of a 1999 Acura attempted to turn onto Ida from Florida. They failed to yield to a 2007 Chevy pickup truck that was coming through the intersection, causing the two vehicles to collide.
The Chevrolet swerved to avoid the Acura, which caused it to strike a Nissan van traveling northbound. The driver of the Nissan lost control and swerved onto the sidewalk, where it struck the four students at the bus stop.
The driver of the Acura was cited for careless driving. Tampa police continue their investigation at this time.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
