Tampa, FL (May 4, 2021) – A woman was injured after being hit by the driver of a stolen vehicle in Tampa on Monday, May 3.
Local reports indicated that the driver of a stolen 2013 Hyundai Genesis was speeding southbound on N. 28th Street. Officer did not initiate a pursuit, but the driver proceeded to run a stop sign near the intersection with E. 26th Avenue. The Hyundai collided with a 2005 Jeep Liberty containing three occupants.
The driver of the stolen car fled the scene. A female passenger in the Jeep was ejected and was trapped under the overturned vehicle. She was assisted by witnesses at the scene and transported to a local hospital for the treatment of sustained injuries.
The hit-and-run driver is believed to be a juvenile. An ongoing investigation into the accident is underway.
