Sarasota, FL (December 12, 2019) – On Wednesday night, December 11, a fatal motorcycle crash took place on FL-93 in Sarasota that took the life of one individual.
The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene of the collision where they found that a semi-truck was involved in a crash with several motorcycles. At the time, the motorcyclists were headed south on FL-93 on the Fruitville Road overpass. They were all in the outside lane of traffic.
A semi-truck was also headed south approaching the overpass in the center lane.
A 56-year-old motorcyclist lost control of his motorcycle causing him to be ejected from the bike. His motorcycle collided with the semi-truck and was run over by the massive vehicle.
Three other motorcyclists who were riding nearby also lost control. They were identified as a 55-year-old, 40-year-old, and 51-year-old. The three riders remain in the hospital at this time.
The 56-year-old motorcyclist passed away at the scene of the accident.
The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident.
