Dade City, FL (April 7, 2020) – On Friday, a child was killed in a fatal accident and four people were injured on U-98 in Dade City.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident. They found that a 31-year-old woman was driving north when she tried to pass another vehicle. This caused her to swerve left so that she could avoid an accident.
The vehicle traveled off the west side of the road and went through a wire fence and into a wooded area. It then struck a tree.
A 19-month-old inside the vehicle was tragically pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver, two children, and a 31-year-old passenger sustained broken bones and other related injuries and were taken to area hospitals.
The investigation into the collision is currently ongoing.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
